While setting up a VPN connection is a breeze, there can also be problems associated with it. Many users experience an error while connecting to a VPN network (which had worked earlier) saying, \u201c<em><strong>A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection<\/strong><\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solution 1 : Using Device Manager<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution 1 : Using Device Manager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong>&nbsp;Press the&nbsp;<strong>Windows key + X<\/strong>&nbsp;together on your keyboard and select&nbsp;<strong>Device Manager<\/strong>&nbsp;from the context menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegeekpage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Start-right-click-Device-Manager.png\" alt=\"Start Right Click Device Manager\" class=\"wp-image-38387\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong>&nbsp;In the&nbsp;<strong>Device Manager<\/strong>&nbsp;window, scroll down and expand&nbsp;<strong>Network adapters<\/strong>. Now, right-click on&nbsp;<strong>WAN Miniport (SSTP)<\/strong>&nbsp;and select&nbsp;<strong>Uninstall device<\/strong>&nbsp;from the menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegeekpage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Device-Manager-Network-Adapters-expand-WAN-Miniport-SSTP-right-click-Uninstall-device.png\" alt=\"Device Manager Network Adapters Expand Wan Miniport (sstp) Right Click Uninstall Device\" class=\"wp-image-39210\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong>&nbsp;Repeat the same process as shown in&nbsp;<strong>Step 2<\/strong>&nbsp;to<strong>&nbsp;Uninstall device<\/strong>&nbsp;for the all the&nbsp;<strong>Miniports<\/strong>&nbsp;listed below one by one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>WAN Miniport (PPTP)<\/li><li>WAN Miniport (PPPOE)<\/li><li>WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)<\/li><li>WAN Miniport (L2TP)<\/li><li>WAN Miniport (IPv6)<\/li><li>WAN Miniport (IP)<\/li><li>WAN Miniport (IKEv2)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong>&nbsp;Now, click on the&nbsp;<strong>Action<\/strong>&nbsp;tab at the top of the window and select&nbsp;<strong>Scan for hardware changes<\/strong>&nbsp;from the context menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegeekpage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Action-Scan-for-hardware-changes.png\" alt=\"Action Scan For Hardware Changes\" class=\"wp-image-39211\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This will re-install all the WAN Miniports again as it was earlier. So, basically, it installs them freshly and now your VPN should work back again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution 2 : Disable Proxy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Press&nbsp;<strong>Windows key + R<\/strong>&nbsp;to open run command box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Write&nbsp;<strong>inetcpl.cpl<\/strong>&nbsp;in it and click&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thegeekpage.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/inetcpl.cpl-min.png\" alt=\"Inetcpl.cpl Min\" class=\"wp-image-29634\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Click on\u00a0<strong>Connections<\/strong>\u00a0Tab from the top tab list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.
